Winner of the 2023 Sault Area Art Center’s Juried show. Top of the world was inspired by a popular hiking destination near Marquette and overlooking the city, the Huron Mountains, and Lake Superior. The actual image depicts an area at the top of Hog Back mountain nearby, but top of the world has a better ring to it. I wanted to capture the climb up the rocks rather than the view, but I tried to bring the spirit of the lake into the sky for some energy.
