Autumn lingers - but winter is certain. These lingering leaves are holding on as the color fades from the north woods. They almost seem out of place as the daylight fades and the forests go gray with the certainty of winter coming any day to blanket the ground in snow for the next several months. My inspiration came from a tree along the edge of Council Lake in the Hiawatha National Forest, but it was buried in the trees and I thought it would look better with a backdrop of a big sky and the lake so the branches and leaves would stand out. This is a linocut reduction print edition of 7, image size of 18x24 inches on Somerset Satin paper. There is at least an inch of clean border on all sides of the image.
